Spring 2025

We are delighted to report that the Waymaker Community Centre in the remote village of Lungcawi, Maraland was officially opened on Easter Saturday April 19th 2025. It has been fully funded by the Overseas Aid Alliance and has taken a year to build but it has immediately been put to good use as as a school building for the 80 local children who previously had no access to formal education at all. The intention going forward is for it to also run health clinics and to serve as a women’s development and empowerment centre. The installation of solar power means that it can be used after dark and, as the final report below from the team at the Waymaker Trust shows, the whole community in Lungcawi are extremely grateful for the enormous difference it is going to make to their lives!

At the AGM held on March 10th 2025, and subsequently, the OAA Trustees have been able to allocate a further £28,500 to 7 deserving projects in 6 different countries around the world including another £5,000 to the Waymaker Community Centre (above) to help with their setting up costs.

Details of the awards to Ripple Africa in Malawi, the Zanzibar Outreach Programme in Tanzania, the Jibon Tari floating hospital and the LAMB hospital in Bangladesh, the Lake Clinic in Cambodia and St Paul’s Secondary School in Zimbabwe will follow in our Autumn 2025 update.
